Often, veterans return home to find a more difficult war than the one they left behind. This is the battle against loneliness, anxiety, depression and suicide.
We wanted veterans to join forces once again in their fight against this elusive, shared enemy. To do this, we gathered the gear they had worn while in service in combat zones - uniforms, patches, tents – and stitched it together into a billboard stationed outside of MacDill Air Force Base.
The project brought together the gear and stories of those who struggle every day, and those who are no longer here with us. Their interviews shed light on the experiences behind the gear they donated, and their brave stories let every vet know we are all in this together. The goal is to generate more awareness of the My Florida Vet support numbers and bring veterans together to help heal.
If you are a Veteran in Crisis, please call. You go to war as a team, you should come back as a team.
Remember you’re never alone.
